My name is Jacques, I have been tutoring since 2009 as a peer/private tutor working for 3 other tutoring agencies. I studied at Vancouver College High School and studied Computing Science at Simon Fraser University. Outside of tutoring, I’m involved in the startup scene in Vancouver and write for Insuranceopedia. My specialty is in English, Math and Sciences. I can speak fluent English and Cantonese, as well as some Mandarin and French.
Jonathan is currently a Computer Engineering student at Simon Fraser University. Academically, he is interested in Embedded Control Systems related to automotive applications. Aside from his studies, he has been tutoring since 2012 and has a strong passion for educating students. He excels in high-school Math, Physics and English, but, is also comfortable teaching Electric Circuits and Calculus at a first year level.
My name is Michelle, a Pharmacology student at UBC. Since 2011 I have been providing one-on-one and group tutoring services for mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics and English. I can assist in preparation for the PCAT (Pharmacy College Admissions Test) as I am fairly confident with my score of 99th percentile for the biology component and 92th percentile overall during the 2013 PCAT testing window. I can converse fluently in English and some Vietnamese.
My name is Ashley and I have a Bachelor of Education in Primary/Junior teaching from Queen’s University. I have experience teaching almost all elementary school grades and enjoy tutoring kids in the subjects of English and French. In addition, I like working with ESL students to improve their writing and oral communication skills.
Kim graduated with a Bacelor in Commerce specializing in Finance/Urban Land Economics and International Business. Currently she works as a portfolio analyst on a Canadian investment fund. Previously she worked two years as a business consultant focusing primarily on real estate development projects. She enjoys tutoring English, French, and Math (math jokes included). Some activities that helped shape her tutoring and education development abilities include a six month English teaching opportunity in Vietnam, and an ongoing youth mentorship program that she runs with various high schools in East Vancouver.
My name is Martin, and I graduated from UBC and BCIT with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Biotechnology and Minor in Commerce. I am now working in my field of study as a technologist at one of BC’s health authorities. I studied under the International Baccalaureate (IB) program and am comfortable teaching both the BC high school curriculum and IB curriculum, especially in the subjects of biology, chemistry, physics, and high school math.
My name is Sima, I am a chemical engineer with a Master’s degree from UBC. For me, problem solving is an exciting experience, a way of life, and it would be immensely gratifying to be able to further explore the subject that has given me so much pleasure and joy. I would also be delighted to have the opportunity to share this joy with others through teaching. My past and current teaching experience is from being a teaching assistant at UBC (Chemical Engineering Department) and as a tutor at Excella Academy, AEG Education Services and Tutors on Call. I have generated favorable feedback and have truly enjoyed the experience.
My name is Angela and I am currently a UBC student and former International Baccalaureate (IB) graduate. I have just completed my 3rd year of pharmaceutical sciences and will begin medical school at UBC come the fall. I have a strong background in the sciences but am also comfortable to teach English and Mathematics. I can also assist with PCAT preparation and university applications, including applications for pharmacy and medicine.
My name is Ted, a bio-medical engineering student at SFU. I have broad knowledge of Biology, Chemistry, and Biochemistry as well as a strong background in Mathematics and Statistics thanks to my training as an engineer. I have been tutoring high school students since 2011 in the maths and sciences. I am comfortable teaching in English or Mandarin.
My name is Darren, and I have a strong passion for teaching Mathematics and the Sciences. It is my dream, to be able to share my love for nature through the wonder of teaching. I tutor in English, although I can understand Cantonese. I have years of experience in teaching Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics to students of all ages. I currently am majoring in Physics at the University of British Columbia.
